Waldo County will be represented at the 31st annual Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games by a steady scorer who, according to coach Mel Grant, “just never quits” and “is all guts.”

Searsport's Mikaela Alley, a 5-foot 8-inch guard/forward, will play in one of those games, slated to tip off Saturday, March 9 at Newman Gymnasium at Husson University.

Alley averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and 1.8 blocks this season for the playoff-bound Vikings. She was also named a Penobscot Valley Conference Class C second team all-star.

Alley will participate as a member of the Class C/D North girls team.

Saturday’s events will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the state foul-shooting championship, while spectators also will see a three-point shooting and slam-dunk competitions.

The AA/A/B girls game will tip off at 9:15 a.m. and the AA/A/B boys game at 10:45 a.m., while the C/D boys game will begin at 1 p.m. and the C/D girls game at 2:30 p.m.

All-star players and coaches, members of the All-State academic teams, regional foul-shooting champions, Maine McDonald's Spirit of the Game Award recipients, MABC Contributor Award honoree and Mr. and Miss Basketball will be honored at an awards banquet on Friday, March 8 in Bangor.

The 2019 games mark Maine McDonald’s 31st consecutive year as lead sponsor of the event. Net proceeds from the games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.
