Hello, All,

It is snowing again. Hopefully just a few inches now, more coming on later, I think. I finally got the article written up about our Drew Family, a short one. This was for the Knox Bicentennial. I cannot remember dates, as being young when my grandfather died, I never asked questions. I wish I had asked about life back when.

I never knew my Grandmother Drew, or Grandfather Stewart. So we had Grammie Chris Stewart, and Grampie Basil Drew who both had lived with us growing up, and Grammie until she died in 1980. I feel so fortunate to have had them both with us. I always have loved the elderly folks. I thought everyone had other relatives living with them as a kid.

So, if you want anything about your family in the booklet that is being done, it must be emailed to Myrna Raven, raven@uninets.net, or Vicki Kupferman. I do not have her email address.

Birthday get-together

Sara Doughty celebrated her 18th birthday with all of us Friday evening at the Japanese restaurant on Kennedy Memorial Drive. There were 15 present. It was fun to all be together. Afterwards we had birthday chocolate cake, and ice cream, yep! Chocolate! Where have all those years gone? She is a senior at Winslow High School. Deciding a college is on her mind now.

Home sweet home

Jeremy, Lacey and Chance Cunningham are back in Maine at their new place of residence. He must be away from any germs so his immune system will work the way it is supposed to with his new cells he received. I hope for a speedy recovery for the little feller. Get well, Chance, many prayers and much love to you! They can always use gift cards, as they will have to have check-ups and whatever he needs.

Get well

Here's hoping Anthony Brilliard gets well soon.

Get well to Punkey Giggey, as she is recuperating also. Debbie Knight is in Maine General Alfond Center for Health, 35 Parkway Drive, Augusta, ME 04330, if anyone wants to send her a card. Jerry Parker is in Maine Vets Home in Bangor. Linda is home. My cousin Arthur Harris’ wife Donna just had surgery. May you all be better soon. Spring is coming.

Birthday

Marie Warman recently celebrated her 90th birthday in Florida with family.

Golden anniversary

Bruce and Ellie Richardson recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Wishing you many more.

Brooks

Ralph's Cafe is still closed as the repairs are being done from the frozen, burst water pipes this winter while they were away on vacation. Look for an opening end of March or early April. They will keep us posted when reopening. The problems were in the back part upstairs. This winter we have had some brutal cold days. Think spring!

Fun at the Varney

On Saturday, March 9, 6 to 8:30 p.m., is the Cabin Fever Reliever at the Varney Building in Brooks.

Knox Town Meeting

Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m.; voting March 8 for first selectman and second selectman. For info, call 568-3907 or First Selectman Galen Larrabee, 568-3538. I am not sure who is in the office at this time.

Phone calls

I love phone calls when it is not scammers trying to get all my money for bogus stuff, Medicare, $9.5 million I can have to deposit, and keep it a secret, yeah, right! IRS, police groups, that never ever ask you for money, a grandson that needs help and is in trouble, student loans, interest rates on my credit cards I do not have, free this and free that, they just need all my info to process it, no way, people. These are all scams, among many others that I get. So don't fall for this. Keep your money! If it is too good to be true, most likely it is not.

Florida peep

I received a phone call from Nena Mitchell, and it was good to hear from her.

Snow

Imagine that you have received 198 inches of snowfall the middle of February. Yep. it is so in Caribou up in Northern Maine. And I was complaining how much we have had. Wow, just wow! The snowmobilers wish it was here. The Doughtys were in Hermon for the Vintage Snowmobile Races on Saturday. Poor David, some kid cut him off, so that was the end of his trying. Darn luck anyway.

Benefit dinner

For Collin McCormick on Saturday, March 16, 4 to 8 p.m. at Dockside Restaurant.

Spaghetti feed

At the Waterville Elks Lodge for Winslow Project Graduation. Saturday, March 9, 5 p.m. Sara's senior class fundraiser.

Our 50/50 raffle green tickets will be going out to all units soon. These can be sold to anyone. This raffle always raises a lot of money; get in on it now.

Until next week,

Keep safe and stay warm. There are people still selling firewood. Have a good week, all.
