I have started my spring cleaning. I know it was single digits and we're still buried in snow. This weekend (March 10) we "spring forward" the clocks; it'll take a couple weeks for my internal clock to catch up.

I went to Mac's Hardware this week and bought some seeds. Just looking at them makes me feel warmer and hopeful. Before you know it they'll have baby chicks and bags of garden and potting soil.

It is also annual town meeting season. I take a big interest in how our neighboring towns run their meetings and what's on their warrants. Sometimes I am amazed by how differently each town does things.

Unity's town meeting will be held Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m. The Annual Report is posted online at unityme.org. The printed version will be available next week and we will make sure to disperse copies around at local businesses like The Depot and Mac's Hardware. Please retain your copy to bring to town meeting.

Election for one selectman position will be held at the Town Office on Friday, March 22, from noon to 8 p.m. Tony Avila is running unopposed to retain his seat.

If you are interested in any committee appointments, please let us know at the Town Office. Currently, we are looking to fill seats on the Economic Development Committee, the Cemetery Committee, the Budget Committee and the Recreation Committee.

There are lovely new expanded menus at Mammie's Country Kitchen. I no longer have to "go rogue" and can order a tasty fried fresh haddock sandwich off the menu.

Saturday, March 16, 11:30 a.m. at 93 Main, you can enjoy a St. Paddy's Day celebration with musicians Amy Kercsmar and Nick Apollonio.

On Sunday, March 24, the Maine Maple Producers Association welcomes you to join Maine’s Maple Syrup producers statewide, as they celebrate Maine Maple Sunday. Most sugar houses offer free maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made. Many farms offer games, activities, treats, sugarbush tours, music, and so much more.

Maine Maple Sunday is always the fourth Sunday in March, although some sugar houses are offering events for both Saturday and Sunday. Please be sure to read the description of each sugar house to know what times they will be open and the activities they offer.

Bob Ferreira is still recuperating from his illness and surgery. As of right now, he is at EMMC. You can send cards to him to P.O. Box 556 and Timmy will take them to him.

Happy birthday to my lovely niece Amelia and happy birthday to Ben, one of my little pals at China Jade Restaurant.
