Spring Tea

Carver Memorial Library in Searsport will host its 17th annual Spring Tea fundraiser on Sunday, April 28th. There will be two seatings, at 1:30 pm and 3 pm. The Library invites everyone to enjoy tea, finger sandwiches, and sweets with family, friends, and community members.

It is a special experience to have tea in the beautiful space of the Carver Memorial Library, which was built in 1909 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Library brings out their collection of vintage tea cups and table cloths. The first seating will feature accompaniment by local harpist Jean Goldfine.

The Spring Tea is a wonderful time to socialize with friends, have a grown-up outing with a grandchild, or simply have a special afternoon out.

Each year the Spring Tea feature a specially-chosen kind of tea. This year’s tea is Lifeboat Tea, a popular tea in the United Kingdom. Lifeboat Tea is grown on fair trade farms in Kenya by the Williamson Tea Company, a family-owned business with over 140 years of experience in the art of growing, selecting and blending fine teas. A share of the proceeds from each package of tea goes to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution that provides lifesaving service around the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The tea will be accompanied by assorted finger sandwiches, scones, lemon curd and clotted cream, brownies, baklava, cookies, and chocolate-covered strawberries.

The Tea is made possible by the dedication and generosity of our volunteers, who cook and bake, set up and take down, and provide the tea service for both seatings. Carver Library is grateful to Angler’s Restaurant for their support and donations.

Reservations are required; please call or visit the library to sign up. Carver Memorial Library is located at 12 Union Street in Searsport, and can be reached by phone at (207) 548-2303. The Tea is $15.00 per person, and proceeds benefit library services. Your support helps the library grown and serve our community.
