The Rock Coast Rollers of Rockland will host the fifth annual "Coastal Chaos" roller derby tournament Friday through Sunday, April 26-28 at the Midcoast Recreation Center.

This Women's Flat Track Derby Association-recognized tournament is the only one of its kind in the state of Maine.

"We are thrilled to host eight teams from the northeastern United States and Canada, as they compete for the Lighthouse Trophy," said Amanda Fagan of the Rollers.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 per day, with free admission for children ages 12 and younger. This year the Rock Coast Rollers will donate a portion of the proceeds to Belmont Fire and Rescue and New Hope for Women.

"We are excited to host a junior roller derby exposition game for the second year in a row on Saturday, April 27," Fagan said. "Junior roller derby skaters are between the ages of 7-17, and these young athletes are truly amazing to watch."

While one watches the action, refreshments will be available from Rocket Fuel, Creamed Baking Co., Deirdre’s Cafe and others.

Raffle tickets can be purchased for a chance to win a roundtrip flight voucher courtesy of Elite Airways, or movie passes for Flagship Cinemas.

The Rock Coast Rollers are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Rockland that empowers women in the community to be strong, healthy and confident through the sport of roller derby.
