The Belfast high school tennis teams hit the courts after a wet layoff as the Lions battled Medomak Valley of Waldoboro — with opposite results — on Thursday, April 25.

The Belfast boys picked up a 4-1 home victory over the Panthers, while the Lion girls fell by the same score on the road.

Boys tennis

Belfast 4, Medomak Valley 1

At Belfast April 25, the Lions made quick work of the Panthers.

The individual results, with Lion players listed first, were: In singles, Eli Jolliffe beat Coleman Swain, 8-2; Max Lewis beat Amos Hinkley, 8-1; and Kyle Agbuya beat Alec Coughlin, 8-0.

In doubles, Dyllan Clark and Vin Bonarrigo beat Nicholas Hill and Zach Cheesman, 8-4; and Sam Spectre and Gabriel Ruigomez lost to Ian Doughty and Josh Hagin, 4-8.

Girls tennis

Medomak Valley 4, Belfast 1

At Waldoboro April 25, the Panthers pounced on the Lions for the victory.

The individual results, with Lion players listed first, were: In singles, Madison Farris beat Chloe Blake, 6-1, 6-3; Clarisse Stradtman lost to Sadie Cohen, 2-6, 2-6; and Jasmine Cunningham lost to Claire Bourett, 4-6, 5-7.

In doubles, Sarah Woods and Alice Andrews lost to Katie Ryan and Cheyanne Greene, 2-6, 4-6; and Olivia Matthews and Sarah Kunesh lost to Leah Wilcox and Elle Ashmore, 2-6, 6-7.
