The Mount View baseball and softball teams — hitting the diamonds for the second time in as many days — squared off with host Winslow on Tuesday, April 30 in makeup contests and came out on the short end of the stick.

Mustang softball had a late rally snuffed out and fell 10-8, while baseball was tripled up by the Black Raiders 9-3 in high school field clashes.

Softball

Winslow 10, Mount View 8

At Winslow April 30, the Mustangs had a late rally cut short as the Black Raiders emerged with a two-run win. Mount View scored one run in the second inning, three in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh, while Winslow scored four in the first, one in the third and five in the fourth.

Leading the ‘Stangs at the plate were Hannah Coolen (hit, 2 runs), Kate Bourgeois (hit, run), Devon Burgess (hit, run, RBI), Alex Fountain (hit, run, 3 RBIs), Taylor Hodgdon (hit, run), Emma Fonger (3 hits, run, RBI), Emily Lancaster (hit, run) and Alexa Coffin (RBI).

For the Black Raiders, Leah Knight (run), Kathryn Bailey (run), Paige Trask (2 hits, 2 runs), Harly Pomerleau (2 hits, 2 runs, 4 RBIs), Jenna Libby (2 hits, 2 runs, RBI), Mariah Morrison (hit, run, RBI), Jenna Rodrigue (hit, run, RBI) and Abby Wright (hit, RBI) paced the offense.

Morgan Fonger and Emma Fonger, who are sisters, pitched for Mount View, as the siblings allowed nine hits and six walks, with three strikeouts. Trask pitched for Winslow, as she allowed nine hits and three walks, with six strikeouts.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Mount View (2-2, 1.2500 points) is 18th, while Brewer (5-0, 20.8594 points) is first in the 21-team region. The top 14 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Baseball

Winslow 9, Mount View 3

At Winslow April 30, the Black Raiders scored a steady barrage of runs and tripled up the Mustangs. Mount View scored in the first, sixth and seventh innings, while Winslow scored one in the first, two in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Leading the Mustangs at the plate were Barak Moody (hit, run), Noah Jacobs (2 hits, RBI), Logan Jacobs (hit, run), Brady Moulton (3 hits, run, RBI), Declan Knowlton (hit, RBI) and Draedyn Furrow (hit).

For the Black Raiders, Ethan Lachance (3 hits, run, RBI), Reid Gagnon (2 hits, run, RBI), Cody Ivey (3 hits, 2 runs, RBI), Cameron Winslow (2 hits, 2 RBIs, run), Colby Pomeroy (hit, RBI), Justin Laflamme (2 hits, 2 runs), Jackson Reynolds (2 hits, run), Bryce Gunzinger (hit, 2 RBIs) and Caden Fitzpatrick (run) paced the offense.

Jacobs and Knowlton worked the hill for Mount View, as the duo allowed 16 hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts. Lachance pitched for Winslow, as he allowed nine hits and three walks, with nine strikeouts.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Mount View (0-4, no points) is 19th, while Hermon (6-0, 14.3750 points) is first in the 21-team region. The top 14 teams qualify for the playoffs.
