Esther B. Whitney, 92, passed away April 28, 2019, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law with her family at her side.

She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Waterford, the daughter of Archie and Ethel Bell. She married Harry Whitney in 1946, a marriage that lasted 41 years until his death. In 1999, she married Roger Trask, who passed away in 2016.

Esther worked in the school lunch program in Brooks, Presque Isle and Skowhegan. She spent many summers at Randall Pond in Brooks and Beach Hill in Otis. Winters were spent in Zephyrhills, Florida, until she moved to the Leach Home in Brewer.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth Whitney and his wife Bonnie of Brewer, and a daughter, Jean Raven and her husband, Darryl of Thorndike; grandchildren Jason Raven and Karen White; step-grandchildren Lori and Scott Thompson; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; one brother, Harry Bell and his wife, Janet; a special niece, Shirley Merrill, who always sent gifts of candy and cookies on special occasions. Esther was predeceased by sisters Irene and Margaret and brothers Donald, Earl and Frank. Esther’s family gratefully thanks the staff of Beacon Hospice for all their love and support.

Interment will take place at the Harrison Village Cemetery, Harrison, at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
