Applications for the position of Thorndike fire chief are available at the Town Office. Completed applications are being received at the Town Office until Monday, May 13, at 12:30 p.m.

Applications are also available at the Town Office if you are interested in volunteering for the Thorndike Fire Department.

Join the Red Knights Maine Chapter IX on Saturday, May 18, as they ride for the Wilderness Walk for Warriors. The ride will start at the American Legion in Rockland, 335 Limerock St., and will end at the Freedom Fire Department for a chicken barbecue.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. and kickstands will go up at 10:30 a.m. This will be a donation ride and will end with the chicken barbecue, $8 at the Freedom Fire Department.

I know that they cancelled the yard sale for May 4, Mount View Road, Thorndike, but I have not been given a new date yet. I will post as soon as I get the word.

The Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association will hold its annual chicken barbecue and quilt raffle at the Freedom Field and Freedom Church Saturday, May 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a silent auction, with those items on display in the church.

My sincere sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Jerry Parker. He will be missed by many.
