For the fifth straight year the Midcoast Recreation Center hosted skates that do not work well on ice, as the Rock Coast Rollers women's flat track roller derby team hosted the "Coastal Chaos" tournament Friday through Sunday, April 26-28.

The event featured nine derby teams from the northeastern United States, as well as Canada, including: Black Rose Rollers from Pennsylvania, Hellions of Troy Roller Derby of New York., Bay State Brawlers of Massachusetts, Granite State Roller Derby of New Hampshire, Anchor City Rollers of Nova Scotia, Mass Attack Roller Derby of Massachusetts, Fog City Rollers (Saint John Roller Derby) of New Brunswick and Hartford Area Roller Derby from Connecticut.

After the final bouts had been skated, and points tallied, the Hartford Area Roller Derby team captured the Lighthouse Trophy.

Twelve bouts were scheduled for the tournament, with one on Friday night, five on Saturday and six on Sunday. Saturday also featured a junior roller derby match sandwiched between the final two bouts.

A portion of the proceeds from the event were donated to Belmont Fire and Rescue and New Hope for Women.

Saturday, April 27

Bout two: Hartford 194, Fog City 113; bout three: Black Rose Rollers 164, Hellions 117; bout four: Bay State Brawlers 202, Halifax 133; Bout five: Fog City 168, Mass Attack 141; 5pm: Junior roller derby expo bout; and bout six: Hartford 181, Granite State 93.

Sunday, April 28

Bout seven: Black Rose Rollers 181, Halifax 105; bout eight: Bay State Brawlers 157, Hellions 121; bout nine: Hartford 254, Mass Attack 102; bout 10: Fog City 212, Granite State 114; bout 11: Halifax 145, Hellions 135; and bout 12: Bay State Brawlers 180, Black Rose Rollers 111.
