It's quiet in the house, but there's lots of noise coming out of the garage. The boys decided to take the late model race car out of mothballs and get her race ready for this weekend's action at Wiscasset Raceway. Dylan Turner of Freedom will be in the seat turning left.

Boat launch permits are available at the Town Office. Free for residents and Unity taxpayers; $10/year or $2/day for non-residents.

Although the town of Unity does not have an official Facebook page, we use Unity, Maine Citizens United for updates about town activities and items of interest. One question that was asked this week was about the repainting of  pedestrian crossings. We are on the list to be done, except for School Street, which the state will do when they re-pave the road sometime this summer. Another question was about the reopening of Bailey Road. A much larger culvert has been ordered and work will be done when it comes in, hopefully within a week or so.

Reminders: Basics of Gardening Class at VRFP (food pantry) on May 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Kennebec Valley Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus of Waterville will hold their second spring celebration concert on Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at the Unity College Center for the Arts. Bangor Savings Bank and Unity Shop 'n' Save are both collecting peanut butter and jelly during the month of May.

Mammie's updated hours are Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The hummingbirds are here! Please avoid pre-mixed red-dyed food for them. You can make your own: 4 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Also, it's important to change the food every couple of days, depending on the temperature.
