The Prospect Memorial Day parade will take place on Monday, the 27th of May, at noon. The parade will travel from the old Webb house on Route 1 through the town of Prospect. It will be grand marshalled by the Boston Post Cane recipient, Vivian Smart. The Prospect Fire Department and the Stockton American Legion will be taking part in the parade as well.

The memorial service following the parade will take place around 12:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial in the center of town. Max Provencher will be presiding since Linda Gamble will be off to Texas. Rep. Sherman Hutchins and Pastor Raymond Hedgpath will be speaking.

The Fire Department will be hosting a hot dog and hamburger cookout afterwards. Donations for the Fire Department would be accepted and appreciated.

On June 1 Prospect will have its annual Spring Cleanup Day. Pinkerton’s Disposal will be picking up at 7 a.m. Please have your stuff road side beforehand. For a complete list of acceptable items, please contact the Town Office, 567-3661. As far as I know tires are not acceptable for the Spring Clean pickup but are acceptable at regular trash pickup on the third Thursday of the month. In order for your tires to be picked up, they have to be rimless, and I believe the limit is only two at a time.

The Regional School Unit 25 budget meeting will be Wednesday, May 29, at 7 p.m. Jill will be outside the Bucksport Middle School auditorium to check in voters. All residents are welcome to attend.

Tuesday, June 11, will be the RSU 25 budget election. We will not have any state or federal ballots for this election. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Office. Typically the RSU ballot is a simple yes to accept or no to decline. For more information on the schools’ finances, we encourage all to attend the budget meeting as mentioned above.
