Town Office

The Searsmont Scholarship applications are due at the Town Office on May 31 to be considered for an award this year. We will accept a postmark date of May 31 if the application is mailed in. Applications are available at the Community Building or online at

The Searsmont Town Office will be closed on Wednesday, June 5, to allow the staff to attend training. The code enforcement officer/LPI will be available during his normal hours, 5:30 a.m. to  2:30 p.m. It is recommended that you call him to make an appointment, as he is in and out of the office.

The Regional School Unit 71 School Budget Referendum will take place on Tuesday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the upper level foyer of the Searsmont Community Building.

Changes are happening at the transfer station in preparation for the change to Fiberight that was approved a couple of years ago, and because of a change in contracted trash haulers.

While operations are still being worked out, the first impact will be the absence of summer hours on Wednesdays. These have been eliminated because of limited use and inadequate staffing. In the future all trash and recyclables will be bagged together in town bags for disposal.

Pick up the handout explaining this information at the Transfer Station or at the Town Office.
