Hello All,

It is warmer finally. The sun feels good on this body. Maybe a few days with no rain. The flowers are all out, and lilacs blooming, sending their sweet scent in through the kitchen window, what a lovely scent to enjoy. I need more lilac trees here. Have purple and white. My favorite. Although this year the forsythia yellow blooms were pretty. Now the honeysuckle is blooming.

Love spring minus those darned black flies, and mosquitoes. Ticks are out in full force, and some so tiny you can barely see them. People having nests of the brown tail moth caterpillars. Those things are terrible, any contact with them results in a bad rash, so beware. But nice weather is here, said 80 on the thermometer, and even in the backyard.

Congrats to all the graduates at Mount View High School as the day is here, June 9. Time to shine, and good luck to all whatever you choose to do with your life. Make it a great one!

My granddaughter, Sara Doughty, graduated from Winslow High School in the top 10 students. Her Auntie Amy told me she was actually the valedictorian if they had recognized the students individually. Way to go, Sara! We know how you rank, and we are so proud of you for all the hard work you have put forth over the years. Good luck in college at UMPI! You will make a super nurse someday. There were several of us attending.

Pleasant Hill Cemetery update

Thanks to all who supported the Chicken Barbecue, silent auction, quilt raffle, and appeals letter donations, that were held recently. We have work to do at the cemetery. There is tree removal in the front on Route 137 to take care of, and a driveway to put in on the new part. The cemetery looked nice as I was just there; Marcus Lowe does a good job.

90th birthday

Warren Moody will be celebrating his 90th birthday, and a happy birthday to you, Warren! The celebration will be held at the Freedom Congregational Church on Sunday, June 23, 1 to 3 p.m. Refreshments, but no gifts please.

Burial notices

Dwayne Drew Jr., "Dino," will be buried on June 23 at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery on Hill Road in Clinton. He will be laid to rest near his mom.

Hartley Curtis’ burial is on Saturday, June 15, at 1 p.m. and reception afterwards at the Freedom Congregational Church on Montville Road.

Unity Fire Auxiliary

The Unity Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested, they are looking for more members to join and support the department. The main objective is to provide the firefighters with nourishment and hydration during emergency calls. For info call 948-5244.

Strawberry Festival

The Dirigo Grange, aka Freedom Grange, is having the annual Strawberry Fest on Saturday, June 29, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Turkey pie, mashed potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce, coleslaw, biscuits, strawberries, lemonade and coffee. There will be strawberries for sale. It is hard to believe it is going to be strawberry season soon. Come support the grange.

Freedom Congregational Supper

I attended the monthly supper at the church, it was a baked ham supper and was delicious. You need to come on out for a great meal.

Community store

The Amish Store is selling fudge, (it looked so good) but I didn't get any. This yummy right along with the delicious doughnuts they have on Wednesday as well. I was surprised they were not sold out on doughnuts when I stopped to get jam. Check them on out.

I am sorry to hear of Kay Tozier's passing, sympathy to her family and friends. Now and then I saw her at Unity Shop and Save. Joanne Wilcox of Brooks will also be missed by family and friends.

Seafood bash

On Tuesday I attended the lobster, clams, and mussels supper, among other goodies, at Paul and Kate Flynn's home. Jan Smith and friend Bernadette Burd of Florida are here for a week or so, and decided we needed seafood. Thanks for the invite.

Until next week,

I hope everyone is well, and enjoying the weather now. Be safe. Congrats to all graduates, be safe, and good luck in all you do now school is out. Look for a promising future.
