For those who have not tried the goodies from J.A. Bakery at Peavey's General Store in Montville, all I can say is, yum-yummy-yum. I have tried a couple of their delicacies but personally like the homemade eclairs the best.

They offer a variety of fresh bakery items every day that you can purchase at Peavey's. They also offer special-order wedding cakes, specialty cakes and pies. Check them out.

Yard Sale

The Order of the Eastern Star is having its annual yard/bake sale on Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thorndike and Belfast chapters will also be joining them this year, so it promises to be a huge event. The location is next to the Maritime Energy Office on Route 3 in Montville.

Union Harvest Grange Field Day

It’s all hands on deck for Montville's Union Harvest Grange Field Day committee! We need and welcome everybody who wants to help. The planning committee meets weekly on Mondays at 6 p.m. at the Montville Town Office. For more information, call Terry 342-5544.

The Montville Trash Clean-up Event is next week. Residents are being asked to volunteer to pick up trash roadside. The primary day will be Saturday, June 29, but individuals, or groups, are welcome to go out any time earlier in the week.

Bags and gloves are now available at the Town Office for you to use. If you are unable to deliver the trash to the transfer station on Saturday the 29th, you can drop it off at the Grange a couple of days in advance and someone will take care of it. If you do, please place the bags to the right side of the building.

If you are interested in helping, please send Jeanne an email at or call her at 342-5543, and let her know which road(s) you are willing to work on. Participants will receive two free transfer station stickers for their efforts.

Roll-Off weekend is set for July 13 and 14. Please note that the transfer station will not be open on Wednesday evenings this summer due to budget constraints.
