Four games are in the books in the five-team District 2 Little League 11- and 12-year-old double-elimination baseball tournament, and through play on Monday, July 8, four diamond squads remain in contention for the championship.

Lincoln County (1-1) started the tournament with a 7-5 win over Five Town (0-2) on Saturday, while on Sunday, Waldo County (1-0) bested Oceanside (1-1) 11-5 and Medomak Valley (1-0) defeated Lincoln County 10-0 in five innings. Rain postponed one of the games on Saturday.

Next up was an elimination game between Five Town and Oceanside on Monday, July 8, as Oceanside won 13-12 in a thrilling, down-to-the-wire game.

Waldo County and Medomak Valley will square off in a winner’s bracket game on Tuesday, July 9 at 5 p.m.

All games but one are played at E. Allen Gordon Field in Rockland. One game will be on the Little League field in Thomaston.

The tourney continues through Friday or Saturday, July 12-13.

The District 2 champions will advance to the state tournament in Lewiston.

The following is a list of players in this year’s District 2 tournament:

Oceanside — Jacob Barstow, Robert Blair, Dylan Chiaramonte, Parker Darge, Jack Fifield, Dominic Frisone, Jackson Kay, Evan Morse, Joshua Pratt, Brady Proctor, Jacob Watkinson, Dylan Winslow and Zachary Woodman. The team is coached by Chris Barstow, William Darge, Matthew Kay and Jeremy Proctor.

Five Town — Nolan Ames, Colby Bennett, Simon Bishop, A.J. Collins, Hayden Davis, Boston Enggass, Micah Fagonde, Bennett Gardner, Jasper Hackett, Walker Hedrich, Thomas Leadbetter, Brian Leonard, Charlie Nicolet and Kai Young. The team is coached by Andrew Hedrich, Stephen Enggass and Daniel Davis.

Waldo County — 11-12 baseball — Ashton Ellis, Charlie Lewis, Dakota Harriman, Brady Bryant, Ethan Abbott, Joseph Parker, Sam Duval, Jake Lindelof, Gary Gale, Dawson Tripp, Luke Littlefield and Colton Luce. The team is coached by Randy Abbott.

Medomak Valley — Isaac Bickford, Josh Blake, Seamus Donaghy, Porter Geaghan, Donald Havener, Jacob Hendrickson, Aidyn Herring, Gabe Jones, Austin Lash, Gabe Lash, Kristian Schumann, Walker Simmons and Jacques Thomas. The team is coached by Andy Havener, Matt Lash and Jason Simmons.

Lincoln County — Abe Blanc, Gabe Hanley, Tyler Blanc, A.J. Giberson, Roan Donaghy, Tucker Oliver, Lincoln Ball, Will Bradley, Hamilton Pierpan, Jordan Blanc, and Nicholas Heaberlin.

The following is a recap of the first four games of the tournament:

Oceanside 13, Five Town 12

At Rockland July 8, Oceanside broke a 12-12 tie in the sixth inning and walked off with a one-run win over Five Town. Oceanside scored six runs in the second inning, three in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth, while Five Town plated three in the fourth, three in the fifth and six in the sixth.

Leading Oceanside at the plate were Winslow (2 singles, 2 runs), Darge (run), Pratt (single, run), Kay (single, run), Proctor (single), Chiaramonte (run), Watkinson (run), Woodman (2 singles, 2 runs), Blair (2 runs, stolen base) and Morse (2 runs).

For Five Town, Bishop (2 runs), Leadbetter (2 singles, 2 runs), Hedrich (2 singles, run), Fagonde (2 singles, 2 runs), Davis (double, 2 runs), Ames (single), Leonard (run) and Gardner (2 singles, 2 runs) paced the offense.

Watkinson and Woodman pitched for Oceanside, as the teammates allowed 10 hits and seven walks, with 10 strikeouts. Hedrich, Fagonde and Ames pitched for Five Town, as the trio allowed seven hits and 11 walks, with two strikeouts.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Watkinson reached on a walk, was pinch-run for by Pratt, who eventually scampered home on a passed ball and scored on a close play at the plate for the winning tally.

Waldo County 11, Oceanside 5

At Rockland July 7, Waldo County plated runs in five of the game’s six innings and surged past host Oceanside. Waldo County scored one in the first, three in the second, one in the third, four in the fifth and two in the sixth, while Oceanside scored one in the second, two in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Leading Waldo County at the dish were Abbott (2 singles, 2 runs), Ellis (3 singles, 4 runs), Harriman (2 singles, run, stolen base), Littlefield (double, 2 singles, run), Gale (2 singles, run), Parker (2 singles), Lindelof (single), Lewis (single) and Luce (2 singles, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases).

For Oceanside, Winslow (double, 2 singles, stolen base), Pratt (double), Proctor (home run, single), Morse (double, single, 2 runs), Watkinson (triple, double, single, run), Woodman (2 singles, run), Kay (single) and Fifield (single) paced the offense.

Waldo County pitchers allowed 15 hits and no walks, with nine strikeouts. Oceanside pitchers allowed 18 hits and five walks, with five strikeouts.

Medomak Valley 10, Lincoln County 0 (5 inns.)

At Rockland July 7, Medomak Valley swung into the tournament in style with a shutout win over Lincoln County. Medomak Valley scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Leading Medomak Valley at the plate were Blake (single, run), Shuman (2 singles, run, stolen base), Gabe Lash (double, single, 2 runs), Bickford (run), Geaghan (2 runs), Havener (single, run) and Simmons (single, run, stolen base).

Gabe Lash not only finished with a two-hit game at the plate, but spun a no-hitter on the mound as he walked two and struck out 10. Lincoln County pitchers allowed seven hits and eight walks, with 10 strikeouts.

Lincoln County 7, Five Town 5

At Rockland July 6, Lincoln County kicked off the tourney with a two-run triumph over Five Town. Lincoln County scored one run in the first inning, five in the fourth and one in the fifth, while Five Town plated one in the second, three in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Leading Lincoln County at the plate were Jordan Blanc (run), Donaghy (single, 2 runs, 5 stolen bases), Ball (single, run), Bradley (single, run, stolen base) and Hamilton (single, run, stolen base).

For Five Town, Hackett (single, run, 3 stolen bases), Hedrich (run, 2 stolen bases), Fagonde (run), Enggass (single, run, stolen base) and Davis (triple, run, 2 stolen bases) paced the offense.

Tyler Blanc pitched for Lincoln County, as he allowed three hits and nine walks, with 16 strikeouts. Leonard pitched for Five Town, as he allowed four hits and eight walks, with 13 strikeouts.
