A sun-blinded driver lost track of the road Monday, then swerved off the shoulder and into a culvert.

At approximately 10:49 a.m., Donna Oberdorff, 71, was driving south on Ward Hill Road with passenger Brenda Lagesse, 70, when the sun's glare momentarily blinded her.

According to the Sheriff's Office, she drove her Nissan Rogue off to the right at 674 Ward Hill Road and hit a culvert. The impact deployed all airbags.

Oberdorff suffered a broken nose and several cuts, and Lagesse had minor bleeding. Both were taken to the hospital for observation. Oberdorff is from Etna and Lagesse is from Troy.

The car had minor front-end damage and was towed.

Troy Fire Department and Unity Ambulance responded to the call.
