The Midcoast Recreation Center’s Ice Area has introduced a new member of its family — Mr. Colossus — to the community.

Mr. Colossus is a 20-foot tall inflatable ice hockey player who will be on display outside the building, and perhaps in various spots throughout the Midcoast.

The MRC plans to find local businesses interested in hosting Mr. Colossus at their business to garner unique attention and help spread the word of staying active and playing ice hockey. And, for area businesses to identify and support the MRC’s mission and ongoing promotion of healthy living within the community through sports and fitness programs, said Jesse Simko, arena director.

The public can get in on the fun with Mr. Colossus by taking his photo and posting it to social media with the hashtag #mrcolossus, which will enter them into a contest for a special prize to be drawn on Sunday, Sept. 15.

In addition to ice skating, MRC offers sports and fitness programs, which include youth and adult ice hockey, tennis court rentals, figure skating, learn-to-skate, junior and adult tennis, private and group tennis lessons, group fitness classes, personal training, and dance.

MRC is open to the public and financial assistance is available.
