Congrats

Our congratulations to Becca Bryant, who previously placed 1st at the Regional Bus Competition, was able to compete recently at the state level with all the others that placed in regionals. She won third place for the state of Maine. Her first time competing, as well, and now she has two trophies to display. Good job, Becca.

Ice Cream Shoppe

The Ice Cream Shoppe is now open at Peavey's General Store on Route 3.

Sympathy

Our condolences to the family of Carol Ferreira who passed away recently. She joins her beloved husband Bobby who passed recently. May they both rest in peace.

Lupine Cottage

Margaret Masessa has this Cottage with two stories that houses a working co-op with 65 Maine artists and craftspeople and 50 businesses involved. She recently had her official 16th year season opening. There are all kinds of things available to purchase.

She offers classes in the winter. She has taught a lot of people to knit, and sells her famous sox. She recently had a porch built, and has spaces for her artists. This is Margaret's retirement dream. She is located in East Belfast on Route 1. Come check her out.

Another person to go visit is Gail Moulton Quimby, who is selling the famous fudge at Perry's Nut House. Yum.

Newborn from out of state

A little girl, Riley White, was born on June 25, weighing 6 lbs., 10 oz., 18 inches long. She has a big brother Cameron who is 2 1/2 years old. She is the daughter of Jordan and Nicole White of Iowa. The proud grandparents are Cynthia (DeBlois) White and Jeffery White of Washington State. Cindy grew up here in Montville. Congrats to all.

Church supper

Freedom Congregational Church Supper is Saturday, Aug. 3, 4:30 to 6 p.m. This month is roast beef and all the delicious fixin's.

Montville Field Day

The Field Day is Saturday, Aug. 3, for a reminder.

Knox Bicentennial Day

The day was a success. There are still T-shirts and Knox History Books for sale from the day at the Town Office. And don't forget wooden nickels, too. It was fun, and the Chicken Barbecue by Freedom Fire Department was good.

Veggies, etc.

I got some pickling cucumbers from Mark at Heald Farm so I made pickles, and ate several. I love cukes. His summer and zucchini squash were very good as well. He has potatoes, broccoli and more. I hope all are enjoying our weather, and summertime. Some have been kayaking at Freedom Pond and Sanborn. I saw several ATVs arrive at UHOP last night. That looked like a lot of fun as a group, and to get to eat pizza and whatever there. Some folks were from town.

Meeting

On Tuesday, July 30, at 11:30 a.m. our Reunion committee will be meeting at the Red Barn in Augusta on Route 201. If you wish to join in, just show up. Anyone wanting to attend the Alumni Reunion at MVHS on Aug. 18, let us know for a registration letter, as we need to know if you will be having lunch with us. Jamie Dodge Robie will be speaking to us. She hopes to see her Mount View classmates.

Until next week,

May you all have a safe and happy week. It is swimming pool time I am told. Have fun. Hello to the three guys.
