Dorothy Hawley passed away peacefully at home in Waldo on July 21, 2019. Dorothy was born to Ivory and Hilda (Blood ) Young on May 2, 1923, in Belfast. She attended school in Waldo and graduated from Crosby High School. In 1942 she married the love of her life, James Hawley, in Searsport. She worked for 30 years at Morrill General Store, where she met and kept many friends. When she retired she moved to Waldo and her house in the pines. She loved nature and the simple life and enjoyed the birds and flowers at her home. She had an active social life with her Senior Citizens group and weekly games with the cribbage gang.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Scott, of Waldo and his companion, Ann Marie Cook of Winslow; and her son, Peter, of Morrill and his companion, Debbie Taylor. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Leslie Curtis, of North Tonawanda, N.Y. She had many nieces, nephews and cousins she held dear in her heart.

The family would like to acknowledge Thelma Rolerson, her phone buddy. Also Joann and Maria, fellow Beano players and partners in crime. And Mary, a dear friend and confidant. Special thanks to Myles, Vanessa and the rest of the Hospice team. And last but not least thanks to Annabelle, her special caregiver, who made it possible for Dorothy to come home.

By her request there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of her life at a later time.
