The Dirigo Grange will have a yard sale, auto show and chicken barbecue on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Ingraham Equipment parking lot, which is located at the junction of routes 220 and 137.

The auto show starts at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. It will consist of antique autos, sports cars, pickup trucks and motorcycles.

Villageside Farm, 122 Belfast Road in Freedom, is open for fresh, organically grown vegetables. But only on Tuesdays, from 4 to 6 p.m.!

They welcome you to stop in during those hours and pick up your fresh, in-season vegetables for the week. They are only fresher if you grow them yourself! Polly and Prentice would be happy to see you there and appreciate the support of their farm.

The selectmen’s meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, starting at 6 p.m. at the Town Office. All meetings are open to the public.

Stitch and B girls meet every Tuesday, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Town Office and do their favorite craft. It can be knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, etc. If you are interested in learning, we can teach you. Come on out and join us for a couple of hours of fun and laughter.

Voice of Freedom

Good luck to Patti Sylva who has moved into a new building in Waterville. Hope you are happy there, Patti, and good luck!

Happy birthday to Cheryl Grass who is now living in Texas, Judy Bennett who celebrated a romantic dinner with her husband Steve, Glen Sporie who is now living in Florida, Helen Farrar who is back home from Florida, Lenora Martin who participates in all of Freedom’s events, and my cousin Chris Snyder. Wishing you all many more happy birthdays filled with lots of good health, joy, happiness and love.

Happy anniversary to Clint and Chris Spaulding, who celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary. Just spending it with their family is a big enough party! Wishing you many more happy years together.

Freedom Rec

Special thanks to all who worked so hard to make this August Disneyland in Freedom parade event a success. There are many activities after the parade is over, and something for everyone. There are only a handful of girls that put everything they have into doing what needs to be done. Lots of behind-the-scenes that one does not know about. But they do the best they can with what they have and get the job done. We do this for the children.

All events that we put on during the course of the year are free, and we consider them a community event to bring the people together to have a good time. When we get shorthanded with workers, non-members of the Rec Committee pull together and give a helping hand, which is so appreciated.

If you would be interested in joining our group, contact Cindy Abbott and she can make it happen. No dues involved, a meeting once a month, and plans for the events are discussed.

Special thanks go out to all who attend the parade, or had anything to do with this event, for it is because of you that these events are a success.

Until next week, take care, stay cool, stay safe and God bless.
