There will be a Book Launch Reading and Performance of "The Riddle of Yes" by poet and author Carolyn Locke at the Basil Burwell Community Theater, 17 Court St., Belfast, on Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m.

The second annual Waldo County Emergency Preparedness Fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waldo County YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Ave., Belfast.

Free ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, garden veggies, and door prizes. There will also be hamburgers and hot dogs for sale with proceeds to benefit the Freedom Fire Department Auxiliary. Come learn about disaster preparedness, self-reliance, sustainability, prepping, and off-grid living.

The Half Moon Jug Band will perform at the Marsh River Theater on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. It's about singing, dancing, and making people happy. Performances feature jokes, stories, and mandatory singalongs. No one gets out without singing. No one.

The final fundraising tea of the season will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Brooks Historical Society Menard Barn at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person ($5 for children) and proceeds benefit the society.

An EMA volunteer meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Brooks Volunteer Firehouse. The volunteers will assist Brooks EMA Director Lisa Archer in the event of an emergency.
