Sept. 11, 2001

The day we will never forget! The Sept. 11 attacks were four coordinated attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people were killed. It was 18 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. Each year on this memorable day, each one of us relives that horrific morning and the hours and days that followed. Please take a moment of silence to remember and pray for those that lost their lives and for their families that are still feeling the pain of their loss. Never forget!

I can still see the first responders running into the buildings to help save people while others were jumping out of the building. The first responders put their lives on the line every day that they walk out of their homes and never know if it is the last time they will see their families. May God watch over them always! God bless America!

Selectmen will meet Monday, Sept. 16, at the Town Office starting at 6 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

Stitch and B girls meet every Tuesday, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Town Office and do their favorite craft. It can be knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, etc. If you are interested in learning, we can teach you. Come on out and join us for a couple of hours of fun and laughter.

Voice of Freedom

Wow, today is Thursday already, the week is just flying by because of having a three-day weekend and a busy one at that. On Saturday we attended a wedding in Scarborough. Mariah’s sister Mason got married and it was a beautiful wedding and reception. Then on Sunday we had a barbecue in Freedom, and on Monday we celebrated Lynn and Chuck’s 30th wedding anniversary at a dinner hosted by Catherine and Tyler. Kyle and Mariah were there, as was my cousin Jenna Zwislak, who is attending the University of Southern Maine School of Law, and lifelong friend Mike Krause. It was kind of an on-the-road holiday weekend and believe me, the traffic was heavy going in the opposite direction of the way we were traveling. The police officers were out in full force.

I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Happy birthday

Birthday wishes are being sent to Nathan McCann on his special day, Sept. 8, and to Kim Holmes and Tammy Turner, who will celebrate their mutual birthday on Sept. 11. Wishing you all the happiest of birthdays and many more!

I guess that’s it for now, so until next week, stay safe, be kind to your neighbor and God bless!
