High school golfers from Belfast and Mount View could not have asked for better weather and course conditions on Thursday, Sept. 5, as the Waldo County teams were graced by sunny skies and warm temperatures.

The undefeated Lions hosted the Purple Panthers of Waterville and doubled up the visitors 6-3, while the Mustangs had a close match with Nokomis of Newport, but, ultimately, fell 5-4.

The following is a recap of both matches:

Belfast 6, Waterville 3

At Northport Golf Club Sept. 5, the Lions swung through the Purple Panthers. Belfast finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 188 to 198 for Waterville.

The individual Belfast results, with Lion golfers listed first, were: James Ritter (45) lost to Brandon Bearce (42), 3+1; Thomas Parker (39) beat Charlie Haberstock (51), 4+3; Tommy Walker (45) beat Owen Evans (50), 3+2; Zach Sanderson (62) lost to Peter Sack (55), 5+4; Lilly Robbins (68) lost to David Ramgren (63), 3+1; and Hagen Chase (59) beat Alex Spaulding (62), 1-up.

Parker shot 39 to earn medalist honors.

Nokomis 5, Mount View 4

At Palmyra Golf Course Sept. 5, the Warriors edged by the Mustangs. Nokomis finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 224 to 236 for Mount View.

The individual Mount View results, with Mustang golfers listed first, were: Miles Littlefield (58) lost to Lindsay Cote (45); Lucas Ford (60) lost to Jacob Hawthorne (53); John Clifford (56) beat Cody Chretien (61); Caleb Raven (64) beat Cam Bagley (65); Shawn VonOesen (65) beat Amber Scholten (69) and Josh Campbell (62) beat Tucker Lord (67).
