After two games of the fall campaign, the Belfast and Mount View field hockey teams sport identical 1-1 records.

At the conclusion of high school play on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Lions had swung to a 6-1 road victory over Leavitt of Turner, while the Mustangs fell 3-1 in a home game to Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Mount View began the season with an overtime win over Oceanside, while Belfast fell by one goal to visiting Gardiner.

The following is a recap of both Sept. 10 contests:

Belfast 6, Leavitt 1

At Turner Sept. 10, the Lions caged three goals in each half, which proved more than enough in a victory over the host Hornets. Belfast led 3-1 at halftime.

Kayci Faulkingham collected three goals in the win for Belfast, Chelsea Gaiero added two goals and Sarah Woods one. Mallory Tibbetts also assisted on three goals for the Lions.

Ginny Twitchell had the lone goal for Leavitt.

Brooke Richards made four saves on seven shots in the cage for the Lions, while Paige DeMoscio made 13 saves on 30 shots for the Hornets.

Both teams attempted five penalty corners.

The Belfast jayvees also posted a 4-0 win over the Hornets (names of the goal scorers were unavailable).

Maine Central Institute 3, Mount View 1

At Thorndike Sept. 10, the Huskies emerged with a two-goal win over the host Mustangs. MCI led 1-0 at halftime.

Sophia King scored, off an assist from Sena Hayes, for Mount View, while Jillian Frost (2 goals), Gracie Moore (2 assists) and Ella Burnier (goal) paced the MCI offense.

Thurston Illingworth made five saves on eight shots in goal for the Mustangs, while Dawn Moss made one save on two shots for the Huskies.

The MCI jayvees also earned a 3-0 win over Mount View.
