The Belfast field hockey team is in the midst of a three-game win streak, while Mount View collected its second victory in four tries at the conclusion of high school games played on Saturday, Sept. 14.

After dropping their first game of the season, the Lions have outscored opponents 23-1 and gone 3-0, including a 5-0 win over Maranacook of Readfield on Saturday and 12-0 victory over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle on Thursday, Sept. 14.

The Mustangs fell 2-1 to Lawrence of Fairfield on Saturday after they defeated Waterville 6-2 on Thursday.

Belfast 5, Maranacook 0

At Readfield Sept. 14, the Lions prowled to their third straight win, this time over the Black Bears. Belfast led 2-0 at halftime.

Mallory Tibbetts factored into all five goals as she caged one and assisted on four others, knocked in by Kiara Doolan (2), Riley Nickerson and Kayci Faulkingham.

Belfast held a 31-3 edge in shots and 12-0 in penalty corners.

Brooke Richards played in the cage for Belfast, while Allison Pratt made three saves for the Black Bears.

Lawrence 2, Mount View 1

At Fairfield Sept. 14, the Bulldogs doubled up the visiting Mustangs. Lawrence led 1-0 at halftime.

Sophia King scored the lone goal for Mount View, while Victoria Dunply and Makenzie Nadeau scored for Lawrence and Haylei Niles one assist.

The game was knotted 1-1 late in the second half before Nadeau scored the game-winner with five minutes to play.

Thurston Illingworth made 13 saves on 15 shots in the cage for the ‘Stangs, while Emma Poulin made two saves on three shots for the Bulldogs. Lawrence held an 11-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Belfast 12, Lincoln Academy 0

At Newcastle Sept. 12, the Lions went on the offensive — in a big way — as they clawed past the Eagles.

Leading the potent Belfast scoring attack were Hannah Banks (2 goals), Kayci Faulkingham (goal), Grace Hall (2 goals, assist), Kiara Doolan (goal, assist), Chelsea Gaiero (goal), Emily Woods (goal, assist), Madison Limeburner (2 goals, assist), Mallory Tibbetts (goal, 3 assists), Sarah Woods (3 assists) and Hayley Lindelof (goal).

Belfast held a 48-0 advantage in shots and 18-0 in penalty corners.

Brooke Richards played in goal for Belfast, while Addie Brinkler made 26 saves for Lincoln Academy.

Mount View 6, Waterville 2

At Waterville Sept. 12, the Mustangs tripled up the host Purple Panthers. Mount View led 2-0 at halftime.

Alexa Coffin had a goal and two assists for Mount View, while Sophia King (2 goals), Brianna Tripp (assist), Jasmine Resmini (goal), Macy Fowler (goal), Dakota Jones (assist) and Sena Hayes (assist) also contributed on offense for the visitors.

Ebba Jones and Grace Petley scored for Waterville.

Thurston Illingworth made one save on one shot in the cage for Mount View, while Ella Sawyer made three saves on five shots in relief of Illingworth. Yuliya Pegette made 26 saves on 30 shots for Waterville.
