A handful of Searsport runners participated in the Bucksport Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14, a high school cross-country meet that got the Vikings back on the course.

In the girls varsity race, which included 19 runners, Orono's Erin Gerbi finished first at 19:58.08. Orono finished first among the teams at 19 points.

In the girls jayvee race, there were 18 runners, as Orono's Katherine Kohtala won in 23:22.49.

For the Vikings, Emma Gaecklein finished 12th in 30:32.79 and Bella Campbell 16th at 33:15.88. Narraguagus of Harrington placed first at 27 points.

In the boys varsity race, which included 38 runners, Orono's Thorin Saucier finished first at 16:57.51. Orono was first team at 20 points.

For the jayvee boys, there were 31 runners, and Orono's Ryan Abedi finished first at 18:25.17.

For the Vikings, Thomas Bradley was 10th at 20:20.13, Ellis Braga 18th at 24:34.65, William Bradley 27th at 29:30.47 and Caleb Fairbrother 30th at 31:58.72.

George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill was first at 29 points.
