Searsport cross-country runners were back on the course on Saturday, Sept. 21 as the Vikings participated in a meet hosted by George Stevens Academy.

One Viking girl and five boys, including a pair of brothers, participated in the early-season high school meet.

There were 33 starters and 32 finishers in the girls race, won by GSA's Thea Crowley in 19:21. There were 64 starters and finishers in the boys race, won by Ellsworth's Nick Cormier in16:41.

The girls team scores were: Mount Desert Island 25, Ellsworth 46 and George Stevens Academy 87. Bucksport and Searsport also competed.

The boys team scores were: George Stevens Academy 38, Ellsworth 42, Mount Desert Island 48, Bucksport 121 and Searsport 277.

The Viking girls individual result was: 29, Emma Gaecklein, 30:06.

The Viking boys individual results were:  44, Thomas Bradley, 20:54; 52, Ellis Braga, 23:52; 62, Elijah Law, 28:53; 63, Caleb Fairbrother, 28:33; and 64, William Bradley, 29:55. The Bradleys are siblings.
