Hello, all. Hope everyone had a great week.

A public breakfast sponsored by the Brooks Masonic Lodge 102 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Varney Community Building. Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, pancakes and French toast are on the menu. Donations to benefit the lodge are welcome and greatly appreciated.

The Waldo County Humane Society will hold its first fall rabies clinic on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Brooks Fire Station, Route 139. Dr. Chris Tomalty of Little River Veterinary Hospital in Belfast will administer the shots, which are free to Waldo County animal owners and $7 for pets from other counties. Donations will be gratefully accepted. Please bring all animals on leashes or in carriers.

It's also important to bring proof of a previous shot so your pet can receive a three-year rabies certificate. Discount coupons will be available toward the cost of having a pet spayed or neutered. For information about the clinic, call 852-5033 or 323-6308. The Waldo County Humane Society is also on Facebook.

The Marsh River Theater presents "Gypsy" Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Most people know the story of Rose Thompson Hovick (Momma Rose, the infamous stage mother) and her two daughters: Ellen June Hovick who became actress/dancer June Havoc, and Rose Louise Hovick, burlesque queen Gypsy Rose Lee.

While there have been many stage and screen adaptations of the story, I guarantee you've never seen one like this! Music by Jules Styne, Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Directed by William Michael Switzer. Please call the theater at 722-4110 for more information and ticket pricing. Please don't miss this (I have a small part).
