Notice: Change of venue for Thorndike town meeting. It will be held at the Thorndike Fire Station at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. All social distancing and COVID-19 protocols will be followed. This is an outside event, so there is a rain date of Aug. 29, same time and place.
Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Luke Bryant. He will be missed by his many family members and friends. Rest in peace, Luke.
Remember to stop by Ingraham Equipment parking lot on Sunday, Aug. 9, between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. to get your piece of blueberry pie or muffins to support the Dirigo Grange. This will be a drive-through only. Pie slices will be $5 each and blueberry muffins will be two/$3. This is all homemade by the Grange ladies. Yum-yum!
Sympathy is being sent to the family and many friends of Beverly Ludden. Rest in peace, Beverly. You worked hard for many years.
Many thanks to my helpers this week, Alan Jr., Merrily, Kelsey and my mail deliverer. I appreciate all of you.
Papa Dixon was a visitor of Dustin's this week. They had a great time sitting in the gazebo, having a beer and eating cheese and crackers. Probably the neighbors could hear the laughter.
Daniel J. Boorstin is quoted as saying, "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance; it is the illusion of knowledge."
Have a great week and enjoy all of the fresh fruits and vegetables that are now in season. Then take a walk.
