Rachel E. (Brassbridge) Holmes, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, at Westgate Manor, Bangor.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jimmy Holmes of Winterport, married since January 1967. Also survived by her son, James Holmes II, and his wife, Jenn, of Winterport; her granddaughter Mikayla of Brewer; her daughter, Pam Johnson of Stockton Springs and her three children; her sister-in-law, Thelma Brassbridge of Frankfort; her favorite niece, Ellen Hoyt of Frankfort; niece Cindy Brassbridge; nephews Arthur and Russell Brassbridge, all of Frankfort; and extended family.

She was predeceased by her brother, Sonny Brassbridge of Frankfort, parents Alta and Arthur Brassbridge of Frankfort and nephew Harry Brassbridge of Monroe.

Rachel graduated from Winterport High School in 1962. She enjoyed working in a variety of services throughout her life, but her favorite job was working with children. Rachel worked at Penquis CAP for seven years in the foster grandparent program, as well as teaching Sunday school at her church, Calvary Apostolic Church. Rachel and Jimmy have been members there for 48 years and have made many lifetime friends and extended family there. Rachel held a deep faith in God and allowed it to guide her life and her ministries in the community.

Her kind heart and welcoming nature drew people to her. She always enjoyed baking treats in the kitchen and helping everyone she met. Rachel was a treasure who will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Apostolic Church, 24 Crosby Way, Hampden.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rachel’s name to Penquis CAP of Bangor.
