From the Montville Town Office

For all people receiving emailed versions of the selectmen's meeting minutes: From now on, you will have to download the minutes from the town website (montvillemaine.org).

Apparently selectmen have been advised that under Maine’s Freedom of Access Act (FOIAA), so-called "standing orders" for information are not permitted.

According to an email from Administrative Assistant Kathryn Campbell, "A person cannot request documents to be sent every week, or every month on a regular basis because one is effectively asking for documents that have not yet been produced."

Huh? Who would have thought all this time we were breaking the law?

You can however, request any town documents, including minutes, once they have been produced. Anyone who wants to make a specific request for minutes or any other weekly mailing you are receiving for any given week should contact the Town Office at 342-5544. Such a request will have to be repeated each week you want documents sent to you individually.
