The recycling center on Leonard Road in Thorndike is open Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Saturday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. They are closed Sunday and Monday. Items not accepted include food waste, grass clippings and leaves, furniture, construction debris, wood/lumber, large appliances, tires and trash. All accepted items need to be sorted separately as indicated. Newsprint and mixed paper items need to be bagged separately.

For towns with curbside pickup, make sure contents are visible, use clear bags or open boxes. Keep items dry. Curbside pickup only for paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals. They will be taking glass again soon. No curbside pickup of universal hazardous waste. Milk jugs may be put on a string, clean and without caps.

I will explain in next week's column more about the program and what you can recycle. If you have questions, please call the center at 568-3117. The guys are very friendly and courteous. I always enjoy my visits.

Have you tried the Concessions at Larrabee Field in Knox? I have been told the food is fabulous. They are typically open Friday and Saturday, 5-7 p.m., and on Sunday, noon-2 p.m. They have hand-cut fries and house-made burgers. The menu and hours are updated weekly on the Concessions Facebook page. I plan on checking them out soon.

My car went for a detailing this week. It surely needed it. I was left a big ol' Ford pickup to use in the meantime. I took the Ford to the local store to pick up a couple of things. When I drove in and parked, I was the only vehicle in the lot. One man came in while I was in there and when I left to go home, I found that he had parked within 12 inches of the big ol' Ford. I worked a bit to get myself into the truck, wondering why he parked so close. I was very glad I was not queen-size at that moment! Of, course the air was very blue by the time I got in. The backing out was a bit tricky, but I made it without any scrapes. I am still wondering why he had to park so close and I was still the only customer in the lot.

Dustin and I have been for a few walks and enjoying the gazebo when we got back.

Mae West is quoted as saying, "I generally avoid temptation unless I can't resist it."

Have a great week and enjoy all that fall has to offer.
