Hello Monroe!

Oliver and I have started our regular evening walks up again now that the heat is diminishing and bugs have all but disappeared. Catching the sunsets at Thistle Pond are worth the trek through the woods, and the aster and goldenrod along the roadsides are a sure sign, along with the leaves changing and pumpkins blazing bright, that fall is on its way. I hope you’re taking the time to get out and enjoy the weather.

Worth celebrating

Happy 26th wedding anniversary to Mario and Rachel Tribuzio. Cheers to at least 26 more years of adventure together!

The following community members are celebrating birthdays on the following days this month; wish them a happy one if you see them out and about: Barbara Dolloff (14th), Keith Nealley (15th), Rachel Norgang (18th), Benjamin Hooper (22nd), Megan and Michael Tribuzio (23rd), Jacki Robbins (25th), Marnee Clements (27th).

Kristin and crew are wrapping up their second year of running the Monroe Country Store this month. We are so fortunate to have a small, country store open year-round, stocked with essentials, and serving delicious sweet and savory treats and meals made fresh daily in the kitchen. Thank you, Kristin, for being a part of Monroe!

Thurston Illingworth of Monroe has announced her acceptance into the University of Maine Singers. Congratulations, Thurston!

Congratulations to Randy and Meg Hanson of Jackson. They tied the knot on Sept. 4.

A small, private wedding ceremony took place at The Barn at Rosemoore here in Monroe, also on Sept. 4. Congratulations to newlyweds Nick and Betsy Kenoyer.

Monroe Lions Club

Lions Club members recently worked with Monroe Elementary School staff to set up two tents behind the school for outside learning opportunities. Students are using the space to spread out and be surrounded by fresh air as they adjust to the way school is kicking off this year in the midst of the COVID pandemic.

The Monroe Lions Club is currently planning to resume meeting again, starting the first Tuesday in October. Location of said meeting will be announced. New members are always welcome; come as a guest to meet current members and get a feel for what the club is all about. This is a great opportunity to be an involved part of your community while safely connecting socially with others in a world currently distanced. Questions can be directed to myself (see contact info above), club president Mike Moody (322-2269), or club treasurer David Doak (525-4431).

Have a great week!
