A rust-colored haze from wildfires on the West Coast of the United States was blown across the country and settled over Waldo County Wednesday evening and Thursday morning before being pushed out to sea that afternoon.
Wildfires from California to Washington are burning at unprecedented rates, killing at least 27 people and reducing air quality in those states to some of the poorest in the world, according to reports from The New York Times.
