A morning rainstorm, accompanied by high winds, caused widespread power outages to more than a third of CMP Co.'s roughly 25,000 Waldo County customers Wednesday.
Just before 2 p.m. Sept. 30, CMP reported 9,437 customers without power. Statewide, almost 85,000 CMP customers had lost power. By 9:45 a.m. Friday, the Waldo County number was down to 64 customers with outages attributed to downed trees — 31 in Frankfort, 10 in Liberty, and the rest in Freedom, Monroe, Montville, Morrill, Palermo, Searsmont, Searsport and Winterport.
On its outages map, the company posted times and dates estimated for complete restoration by 7 p.m. Friday. As of 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2, the company appeared to be on track, with only one remaining outage reported, in Brooks.
