State Police arrested a local man and charged him in connection with the deaths of his sister and her husband.

Glenn Brown, 66, of Benton, was charged with murder around 7 p.m. Oct. 5, and taken to the Waldo County Jail.

He is charged in the deaths Monday night of Tina Bowden and Richard Bowden, both 64. The State Medical Examiner’s office said the Bowdens died from gunshot wounds.

Brown is currently being held without bail at the Knox County Jail in Rockland on two counts of murder. The shootings occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on Bonne Terre Road in Waldo.

According to State Police Social Media Coordinator Katy England, Brown walked into the Belfast Police Department to report the shooting. The Belfast Police Department and the Waldo County Sheriff’s department responded to the Bowdens’ home at 125 Bonne Terre Road.

Medical personnel arrived at the residence and transported Richard Bowden to Waldo County General hospital in Belfast, where he died. Tina Bowden was found deceased at the residence.

State Police detectives and Evidence Response Team members worked through the evening at the Bowdens’ residence and conducted interviews. Detectives will continue their work throughout the week.

Brown will make his first appearance in Waldo County Superior court Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 7.
