Old-fashioned ham & bean supper

Take Saturday night, Oct. 17, back to an old Maine tradition with a ham and bean takeout supper from the Searsport Congregational Church. The ham and beans are complemented with coleslaw, brown bread and cookies, all for a suggested donation of $10. Starts at 4 p.m. It’s gone when it’s gone, so it might be a good idea to call ahead to avoid disappointment! Give Phyllis a call at 548-0232 or Sandra at 548-6530. Sponsored by the Missions Committee to help RSU 20 school children with basic necessities. Now you know that’s a good cause!

Voting in the fast lane

Town Manager James Gilway has been working hard to create a drive-thru window at the Town Office to safely expedite town business in this era of COVID-19. Currently the drive-thru is available only for voting, but will eventually be available for other business usually performed at the Town Office counter, like paying taxes, licensing, etc. This is also a reminder that you can avoid the voting booth in advance and now vote at the Town Office…indoors or out!

Borrow a hot spot!

Did you know that you can borrow a WIFI hot spot from Carver Library? Take home a wireless internet access and get connected! The hotspot can be borrowed by an adult for seven days. Just ask at the front desk or call at 548-2303.

Make a date with PMM staff

Don’t forget that at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, Penobscot Marine Museum is presenting interesting topics via Zoom. You need to register for each presentation at penobscotmarinemuseum.org or email jganskop@pmm-maine.org. Upcoming on Oct. 15, Cipperly Good will take a look at three classic Maine boats: the Wabanaki birchbark canoe, the Matinicus double-ender, and the Jonesporter lobster boat. On Oct. 22, museum educator Sarah Cole will look at the incredible marine paintings by the Butterworth family.
