Greetings. I hope everyone is enjoying the October weather (for the most part). Don't forget to look up — Mars is spectacular after dark right now. Just a reminder: I need your news to make this column work.

The Waldo County Humane Society will not be holding a rabies clinic this year due to the COVID pandemic. Dogs still need to be licensed by Dec. 31 to avoid the $25 late fee. Blake Veterinary Hospital in Lincolnville holds clinics at his office on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11. No appointment is necessary, but you must call from the parking lot, 789-5700. The cost is $20 per shot.

There will be an afternoon tea to benefit the Brooks Historical Society on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. The event will be held at the Marsh River Theater. Costumes are encouraged, but not required, and masks and social distancing will be in place. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children under age 5. Please visit Ralph's Cafe to purchase tickets — get them in advance as seating is limited!

There are no concrete plans for Halloween as yet. Stay tuned!

Flu season is upon us, in conjunction with the COVID pandemic. Get your flu shot!

Until next time … peace.
