The Belfast, Mount View and Searsport soccer teams were in action in a busy day on the high school pitch on Thursday, Oct. 15, as the Mustangs and Vikings took the field against one another.

The Mustang girls galloped to a 10-1 win over the Vikings  in Thorndike, while the Mount View boys also triumphed 8-1 in Searsport.

The Lions split with Nokomis of Newport, as the boys posted a 2-1 road win over the Warriors, while the girls were downed 6-1 at home.

The following is a recap of reported results:


Mount View 10, Searsport 1

At Thorndike Oct. 15, the Mustangs scored early and often en route to a lopsided win over their Waldo County neighbors. Mount View held a 6-0 halftime edge.

Leading the potent Mustang offense were Sage Pound (3 goals), Gabby Allen (3 goals, assist), Hannah Coolen (goal, assist), Maddie Roux (goal, assist), Gabby Ravin (goal, assist), Charliza Shibles (goal), Maddy Bisson (assist), Greta Blake (assist) and Hannah Ferriera (assist).

Makenzie Alley scored the lone goal for the Vikings.

Gabby Hanks, Maddy Bisson and Jordan VonOesen spent time in net for Mount View and combined to make two saves on six shots. For Searsport, Sarah Gent made six saves on 20 shots.

"In fairness to Searsport, this is by far and away the best we've played and the most clinical we've finished all season,” said Mount View coach David Page. “We're a extremely strong, experienced team front to back and we all believe that in any other season we'd be one of the top contenders for the [state Class] C title. Today that all came together in a really outstanding display.”

Nokomis 6, Belfast 1

At Belfast Oct. 15, the Warriors netted three goals in each half and coasted past the host Lions. Nokomis led 3-0 at halftime.

Camryn King scored thrice in the win for Nokomis, while Celia Smith added two and Megan Watson one.

Natalie Hamlin scored the lone goal for Belfast.

Stella Collins made eight saves on 14 shots in goal for the Lions, while Nokomis keepers, whose names were unavailable, made four saves on five shots.

The opponents attempted two corner kicks.

Boys soccer

Mount View 8, Searsport 1

At Searsport Oct. 15, the Mustangs continued to gallop toward an unbeaten season with a lopsided win over the Vikings.

Joe Grassi and Tyler Russell netted two goals and Draedyn Furrow, Noah Hurd, Kevin Kinney and Issac Widmer one score for the ‘Stangs, while Josh Wright logged the lone goal for the Vikings.

Ricky Nelson and Brady Moulton combined to make two saves in net for Mount View, while Wright and Sean Paige made six stops in goal for Searsport.

The visitors outshot the hosts 14-3, while squads attempted one corner kick.

Belfast 2, Nokomis 1

At Newport Oct. 15, the Lions got the game-winning goal in the second half and emerged victorious over the Warriors. Belfast led 2-1 at halftime.

Nick Ritchie and Holden Nichols creased the net for the Lions, while Adam Allen had the lone goal for the Warriors.

Chance Clark made 11 saves in goal for Belfast, while Ashton Caron made 11 stops in net for Nokomis.

The Warriors held a 21-17 edge in shots and 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
