It has gotten to the point where fall isn't so pretty. The colorful leaves are dropping; the brilliant hues of red, orange and yellow are turning a listless brown. On the plus side it's that awesome time of the year where the aroma of apple crisp and beef stew fill the kitchen.

Because Tuesday, Nov. 3, is Election Day, the next selectmen's meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10. To comply with social distancing, meetings are currently being held at the Community Center at 6:30 p.m.

Out of an abundance of caution, The Good Steward Thrift Shop will be temporarily closed for a couple of weeks.

Trackside Auto Sales is open on School Street. As evidenced by the name, they are located next to Unity Raceway. I managed to catch Dustin Hubbard there one morning to take pictures for a Facebook promotion. Sorry your breakfast got cold, Dustin!

This year the UBX (Unity Business Exchange) is organizing a Parade of Lights, along with the help from many others, for the annual Unity Yuletide tree lighting on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. They have several people and businesses committed to drive a car, a truck or a float in the parade. If there are any individuals, clubs, scouts, businesses that would like to have fun lighting up a vehicle and joining, please call 948-2432. The more the merrier. More details will follow as they get closer to the date.

Don't forget! The ninth annual Austin J. Grant Hunters' Breakfast will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Snowdusters on the Fisher Road in Unity, 4:30-11 a.m. Drive-thru or limited eat-in.

For the kids (young and old alike), "A Pirate's Life" themed Halloween will be at the home of Dennis and Sharon Picard on Main Street Oct. 31 starting at 5 p.m.

Unity’s Rotary club will be offering navel oranges (22 per box), pink grapefruit (15 large per box), or half & half (12 oranges and 10 grapefruit),each for $26. They will be offering the gift boxes again for $20. These are either navels and marmalade or toffee and mandarins.

The deadline for ordering the fruit is Nov. 3 for expected delivery around the middle of December.

People the can order online for delivery directly to your door, from the fruit groves, for $6.95 per box.
