Janice M. Emerson, 86, passed away Oct. 26, 2020, at Harbor Hill. She was born in Monroe Dec. 6, 1933, to Jasper and Mildred (Smith) Curtis.

Janice graduated from Monroe High School and worked at local shoe shops, Maplewood Poultry and in food service at the Searsport school district, where she always enjoyed being known as the "lunch lady."

For many years Janice was a homemaker who loved family picnics and baking, and always had time for her grandbabies. She was a caring mother who made many sacrifices herself so her kids would not go without. Janice enjoyed nights out dancing with her twin sister, Joyce, and sister Evelyn.

Janice is survived by seven children, Brenda Brown and significant other Fred, Bonnie and husband Mel Box, Rhonda "Jean" and husband Kevin Lyga, Cindy Emerson, Jim Emerson, Tim Emerson and wife Holly, Steve Emerson and significant other Heather St. Clair. She is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Porter, her twin sister, Joyce Bunker, and sister-in-law Brenda Pooler; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Arlene Porter and brother Ernest McKague.
