Hello All,

Well October is gone. It is fall as I hear of the hunters getting ready to head into the woods on Saturday, the 31st, first day of deer hunting. Good luck to those partaking in this sport, and be safe. My dad, Roger, lived for hunting season. How he is missed by us all.

Birthdays

Happy birthday to grandson Kyle Doughty Oct. 27. Happy birthday to cousin Christine Hubbard on Nov. 3. She is with her daughter.

Sympathy

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Kenny McCue as he has passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 26 in Connecticut. May he rest in peace. He was only 29. I have known him since he was born. He recently messaged me about pictures of his grandfather Dwayne, my brother, and his snowmobile racing days. Sadly I never got a picture to him. Services start on Friday, Nov. 6, 3-5 p.m. at Riposta. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Friday at MVHS

Many food boxes and gallons of milk left the school starting at 10 a.m. at the school. Hopefully all got one that wished for one to pick up.

Saturday sale

The TO GO Outdoor Bake Sale at Freedom Grange Hall on Saturday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Mammie's Country Kitchen

Ridgetop is closed for the winter. Mammie's is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Breakfasts served only on these two days. Until 10:45 a.m. Saw Jill Raven there on Friday, no breakfast for me. Wrong day!

Reagan update

Little Miss Reagan is going home this Sunday to Norridgewock, hopefully. She will still need outpatient chemo at Portland in near future. Our best wishes to her and to her parents, Jeremy and Ashley. I bet sister Bradleigh, 4, will be happy to have her new sister home. Many prayers going their way, and much love. Still need your prayers.

Daycare

Raven's Nest Childcare still has openings for two full-time spots in Unity. Contact Connor Larrabee at 465-5951. Highly recommended.

The Mill and Meeting Place

The Restoration Raffle is still ongoing. Drawing on Nov. 28. Open Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Contact at thorndikemill.org.

Congrats are in order

A big congrats to Officer John Gibbs who retired today from Belfast P.D. He served 30-plus years. I see a lot of hunting adventures in his retirement. He may have an official title, but I don't know. Many good wishes to him and family.

Open house, 10th year

In Jackson on Route 7, 969 Moosehead Trail. At Cindy Ludden's place, get some good deals. She has many places full of Christmas goodies handmade. A lot to see and purchase. She has the Jackson Community Center full of bargains to buy as well to help out the food pantry. Go check it out with her and her group there, too. I saw pictures on her Facebook posts, nice items; 722-3205 for info.

Until next time,

Enjoy the weather, as it has cooled off a lot. Happy hunting! It is 28 degrees as I type this up. Seemed good to get my new furnace hooked up and running. Grateful! Be well, be safe. Try to avoid the virus. Vote on Nov. 3. Will be glad when it is over.
