Democrat Janice Dodge of Belfast has won reelection to the Maine House, representing District 97 (Belfast, Waldo and Northport).
Dodge defeated Republican challenger William "Bill" Elliott, also of Belfast, 3,789-1871.
Dodge said she wanted to be reelected so she could continue to speak for people who are underrepresented, like teachers, which was her career for over 30 years before retiring.
Elliott hoped to win the seat so he could reinstate conservative family values, similar to what he experienced growing up in Maine. He wanted to bring property taxes down so people can afford to stay in their homes after retirement.
