Incumbent Democrat Stanley Paige Zeigler beat Republican challenger Katrina Smith in the race for the Maine House District 96 seat by a mere 42 votes.
Zeigler won by a vote of 2941-2899.
He received strong support in Lincolnville of 1035-582.
First elected in 2016, this will be Zeigler’s third term in the House.
Issues important to Zeigler include climate change, utility reform, broadband internet, affordable healthcare, making colleges affordable, electrifying the ferry service and harnessing the power of offshore wind.
Smith, a Palermo resident, said she would stand up for small business and stop out-of-control spending. Investing in career and technical education is a priority for Smith, as well as protecting Mainers with pre-existing health conditions, and First and Second Amendment rights.
