Gladys Catherine Kennedy, 90, passed away Nov. 9, 2020, at the Westgate Center for Rehabilitation & Alzheimer’s Care after a long illness. Gladys was born in Brooks April 12, 1930.

Following high school in Brooks, Gladys attended Bruno’s School of Hair Design in Toronto, Canada, and was the owner and operator of a very successful beauty shop, the Pink Poodle, in Belfast, for several years.

Growing up in Brooks, Gladys enjoyed singing, the outdoors (particularly fishing) and spending time with family and friends. Gladys had a heart of gold, would help anyone and had a voice which she was not afraid to use.

Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Gaylon Kennedy; mother, Emma Mulcahey Staples; father, Francis Mulcahey, stepfather, Roy Staples; and granddaughter, Amy Kennedy.

Surviving are her brother, Daniel James Mulcahey; sister, Marion Bailey; sons Daniel Kennedy, his wife, Heather; Dana Kennedy, his wife, Eileen; a grandson, three granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation & Alzheimer’s Care for their loving devotion, attention and excellent care during the last few years of Gladys's life. There will be a private family service at a time to be determined.
