I finished decorating the house, sans the Christmas tree. My husband, under protest as he does every year, has strung the outside lights. I will commence wrapping presents during Saturday's snowstorm. I have to go to the Waldo County budget meeting in Belfast; I will go early to pick up a few last items at Renys.

There is a Toys for Tots box located at the Town Office. If you are able, please consider a donation of an unwrapped toy. They will need to be in by Dec. 14.

If you drive by the Town Office you will see a festive sculpture (of sorts) made by our very talented and creative deputy clerk, Anne Goodblood.

The Open Door will be serving a baked stuffed chicken Christmas dinner at 11 a.m. on Christmas Day. Drive-thru. Please note the location change to the food pantry on Depot Street.

Our animal control officer, Crystal Nichols, has once again decorated the Town Office with her "Giving Garland." You can support the Waterville Area Humane Society by purchasing an ornament, or simply drop off a monetary or other gift of choice. They can accept the following items: dye-free cat and dog food, both dry and canned; kitten food; paper towels; bleach and towels.

The large dead trees on Kanokolus Road (near the railroad tracks) have been cut down to size so hopefully that will lessen the chances of a dead branch falling and hitting a power line.

The large maple located in Pond Cemetery 1 (toward the end of the cemetery) that was split up the middle has also been removed. This was worrisome because when it did fail it would have taken out several stones.

Unity Shop 'n' Save "Grocery Giveaway" starts Monday, Dec. 7. Enter to win the Grand Prize of a $250 gift card. Starting Dec. 13 through Dec. 24 they will also be giving away $25 per day.

Happy belated 99th birthday (Nov. 21) to Alice Gordon.

Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ron Cropley. He was an institution of the Benjamin Berry Post 50, American Legion, and his service to country and community will be sorely missed.
