Mary Barbara (Fleisch) Lucas of Searsport died peacefully after a brief illness Dec. 17, 2020, at the age of 94. She was born Feb. 2, 1926.

Mary was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart, Rudolph Frederic Gustav Lucas, to whom she was married for 55 years. She was the last in her extended family of the Greatest Generation who believed in God, country, family and tradition.

Also known as “Mary Sunshine” for her perennial upbeat disposition, she was devoted to her family, loved to sing and volunteered for over 20 years with the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, N.J. Mary was a humble, kind and loving woman, committed to her faith.

She leaves behind her five children, Jeannie, Claire, Sandra, Barbara and Paul, along with their beloved spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many special nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Young's Funeral Home, 31 W. Main St., Searsport.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Belfast, Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m., following COVID-19 guidelines. The funeral will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend.
