From the Fire Department

The Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary are working on improving the department in various ways. Recently, a postcard was sent to residents soliciting help by volunteering as firefighters, performing various little maintenance projects, or donating money to one of the Ladies Auxiliary's capital account. Other smaller ways you can help are by donating items used at the station. This allows the department to utilize its budget for replacing or purchasing new equipment.

Items such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, restroom cleaning supplies, and of course six- or 12-packs of various soda. The soda is purchased by the firefighters at 50 cents a can during meetings and training sessions. Returning from calls, firefighters are not expected to purchase the soda.

If you wish to donate a few of these items, you can call Chief Scribner at 342-2129 or Jethro Pease at 342-5910 or you may purchase an item or two at Morrill General and ask the clerk to set it aside for Pat or Jethro to pick up.

Soon, if not there now, there will be a bottle/can cage at the Fire Station for donations. This project should help everyone recycling, not having to travel out of town to return your bottles and cans. The money for the returns will be added to the Ladies Auxiliary tanker replacement fund. Be warm, be safe.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Dot Thompson's family on her passing Dec. 7. Kathy took care of her until the day she passed. Her children are Kathy, Beverly, Donald, Glen and Andy. Dot was such a wonderful person, she always had a smile and was so very kind. She will be missed by all.

Deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Tim Woodbury who passed away on Dec. 4. He leaves behind a brother Patrick and wife Pat Woodbury.

Happy belated birthday to Sandra Peeler on Dec.13. Hope you had a great day!

How did everyone do with this snowstorm? I know that other states got a lot more. My brother Randall and Kelly in Portland got 20 inches. I'm so glad with what little snow we got.

Everyone have a Merry Christmas and enjoy one another.

Quote of the week
