As with just about everything else in this pandemic year, religious services marking the birth of Jesus will be "virtual."

Many churches are using Facebook and YouTube to broadcast services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day — just as they have been doing with Sunday services much of this year — and parishioners should check their usual sources for information and links.

Following are events that organizers have told us about:

First Church

The First Church in Belfast, United Church of Christ, will present “Christmas in Story and Song” on cable TV Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and all are welcome to tune in.

The service of scriptures and carols, portrayed by the children and members of The First Church, will air on the local access stations in Belfast (BCTV) and Searsport (SCTV) on Spectrum cable Channel 2, Thursday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 25, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The program will also be available beginning Christmas Eve on the church website,, as well as on the church Facebook page, @FirstChurchinBelfastUCC.

The pastors and congregation invite everyone to join in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
